Dubai – Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has presented 17 companies with the Dubai Chamber CSR Label for their outstanding CSR efforts during the first six months of 2020.
The Chamber recently hosted a virtual ceremony showcasing the companies’ achievements in corporate social responsibility (CSR), which was attended by representatives from the recognised organisations. In total, the Chamber has awarded 430 labels to companies since the programme was launched in 2010.
Among the 17 honourees, four companies were presented with the Dubai Chamber Advanced CSR Label in recognition of their efforts to continuously improve CSR strategies and practices, namely Al Ansari Exchange, Canon Middle East, and Transworld Group, which received this label for the first time, while Majid Al Futtaim was recognised for the third time.
In addition, 13 companies received the Dubai Chamber CSR Label. Nets International Communication and Transguard Group were presented with the label for the first time. Al Ghurair Group, Align On Demand Labors Supply Services and Aster DM Healthcare were awarded for the second time, and Clyde & Co. was honoured for the third time. Dulsco earned the Label for the fifth time, while CHEP Middle East and Time Hotels were recognised for the sixth time. Horeca Trade was awarded for the seventh time, Six Construct and Union Coop were eight time awardees, and Alpen Capital ME Limited secured the label for the ninth time.
In his welcome remarks, His Excellency Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, congratulated all of the companies receiving the CSR Label and lauded their strong commitment to championing CSR on an organisational level. He noted that interest and participation in the Dubai Chamber CSR Label has increased considerably over the last decade as a result of growing awareness of CSR within the business community, adding that Covid-19 has led more businesses to use CSR as an effective tool to navigate new challenges.
“The benefits of participating in the Dubai Chamber CSR Label initiative are far-reaching and go well beyond the recognition as the framework is designed to help companies evaluate their social and environmental impact and CSR practices, and identify key strengths, as well as areas where they can improve and enhance competitiveness,” said H.E. Al Ghurair.
Awarded companies were applauded by Dubai Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business for their initiatives and commitment to supporting and developing their CSR activities. Companies that apply to the programme benefit from detailed assessment reports on their workplace environmental and social impact, which analyse strategies and regulations and help organisations implement better CSR policies and practices.
Founded in 2004, the Dubai Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) is the first institution of its kind in the UAE that plays a leading role in promoting corporate social responsibility. The Centre encourages member companies of the Chamber to adopt responsible business practices, which ultimately enhance their performance and competitiveness.
