Avaya has achieved strong financial results in the second quarter (Q2) of 2020 due to the global coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, according to the company’s CEO, Jim Chirico.
Chirico attributed the results due to the high demand for technologies that sustainably allow employees to work remotely.
The communication solutions company’s subscriptions revenues increased 200% during Q1 of 2020, with revenues from programme and service activities coming in at $682m, or a record 88% of total revenues.
The company has made Avaya Spaces available worldwide for free, with 2 million making use of the free use permits provided by the company. Middle Eastern countries which are covered by this initiative include Kuwait, the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon.
Educational institutions, NGOs, and formal institutions have benefited from this initiative, with a free trial version of the app also provided to private sector companies.
Avaya’s solutions have enabled a large number of users to enjoy high quality capabilities and technologies during quarantine. It has been particularly useful for those working remotely from home, as is the case with companies specialising in customer service, call centres or emergency response.
