Oman recorded a 34% fall in the production of standard grade petrol (M-91) from its refineries at the end of September 2020, with output falling to 7.05 million barrels compared to 10.63 million barrels in 2019.
The output of super grade petrol (M-95) reached 9.32 million barrels at the end of September 2020, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Gas oil (diesel) output rose 19% to 25.28 million barrels while aviation fuel production fell by 48% to 5.88 million barrels at the end of September 2020 over the same period of 2019. Production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dropped 22% to 4.53 million barrels during the period under review.
Of the total production of M-91 grade petrol (which is the cheapest petrol available in the market), 5.80 million barrels were sold in the domestic market.
Domestic sales of M-95 grade petrol reached 8.22 million barrels while sales of gas oil (diesel) within the country was at 10 million barrels during the first nine months of 2020. Domestic sales of aviation fuel oil declined by 62%, whereas that of LPG rose 5% at the end of September 2020.
As far as petrochemicals are concerned, production of polypropylene by Orpic at the end of September 2020 was 167,100 metric tonnes while output of paraxylene and benzene was 450,700 metric tonnes and 140,200 metric tonnes, respectively.
Further, Omani refineries exported 139,100 metric tonnes of benzene at the end of September 2020 while exports of paraxylene and polypropylene stood at 452,000 metric tonnes and 123,800 metric tonnes, respectively. -- Tradearabia News Service
