OPEC member Kuwait has invited bids from contractors to build 11 separate oil pipelines at various locations at a cost of around 205 million Kuwaiti dinars ($675 million), a local newspaper said on Thursday.

The state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the Gulf country's upstream arm, has issued 7 internal tenders for pipelines with a combined value of nearly 35 million dinars ($115 million) while tenders for the remaining projects would be issued shortly for foreign firms, the Arabic language daily Alanba said, quoting KOC sources.

"KOC has invited 15 national and foreign companies to submit their bids for those contracts, which are the largest oil pipeline projects to be executed by Kuwait in a long period of time," the paper said.

The pipelines, with different lengths, will cover several areas in Kuwait, including the massive Burgan oilfield and hydrocarbon facilities in the North, South and East, the report said, adding that the pipelines would link some oil wells with gathering centres.
