OPEC member Kuwait has approved 360 million dinars ($1.18 billion) for its international airport expansion as part of its 2021-2022 budget, a local newspaper reported on Tuesday.
 
The sum is part of a total 544 million dinars ($1.79 billion) allocated by the Gulf state for “strategic projects” under the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART), Alseyassah said, citing a government budget document.
 
A total 10 strategic projects were allocated funds under the 2021-2022 budget.  
 
The projects include airport expansion, a new maternity hospital at a cost of 74 million dinars ($244 million), the Abdali Expressway project worth around 30 million dinars ($99 million), 50 million dinars ($166 million) for Umm al-Haiman power station expansion and 30 million dinars ($99 million) for upgrading the Cairo Street.
 
The paper quoted the Ministry as saying in a statement that its projects would be completed on time following the easing of Coronavirus curbs in the OPEC member state.
