Saudi Arabia's Haif Development Company has signed up Khatib&Alami (K&A) as the lead designer for its first healthcare project, a 300-bed general hospital to be located at a prime site in the heart of capital Riyadh.

With a built-up area of 39,456 sq m, the hospital will provide a full breadth of healthcare and diagnostics services, said a statement from K&A.

As per the agreement, K&A will design the project according to international healthcare standards, and meeting all Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) best practice sustainability requirements.

Subject to authority approvals, the design phase is likely to be completed in December 2021, with construction expected to take 11 months, it stated.

The development of the proposed hospital, at the Cairo Intersection in the growing business district of Olaya, will support the aims of the Saudi Vision 2030 to improve the quality of healthcare services and facilities through private sector participation, it added.

Engineer Abudulah Al Shamsan, the General Manager of Haif Development Company, said: "We are pleased to appoint Khatib & Alami for this important project, our first in the healthcare sector."

"Our aim is to create a new landmark in the heart of Riyadh, which will be ideally located to deliver world-class healthcare services to the local community," he added.

A major regional player, K&A has vast experience in the design and delivery of healthcare projects across the GCC and Levant regions, from the refurbishment and remodeling of existing facilities to the establishment of new hospitals and specialist centers.-TradeArabia News Service
