New Italian Medical Center will be Dubai's first multi-disciplinary clinic of Italian doctors
Dubai, UAE, 29 January 2016
Dubai's first multi-disciplinary clinic of Italian doctors will open next week as part of plans by the Medicina Futura Group to develop a network of medical facilities in the UAE and other GCC countries.
Located in Umm Suqeim, the new Italian Medical Center will become the first to be established outside Italy by the Group, which employs 1,000 staff, including 500 doctors, at four hospitals and ten clinics between Naples and Rome.
Simone Improta, CEO of the Medicina Futura Group, said: "We will also be looking at introducing facilities in some of the other Gulf countries as we believe there is a demand in this region for the very best that Italian medical care can offer."
With ten Italian doctors in Dubai, including a family doctor and psychologist, the new facility, opening on 7 February, will feature a breast unit and orthopaedic department, with services including bariatric surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, nephrology, obstretic and gynaecology, and paediatrics.
Patients will also be able to book special appointments in Dubai with visiting Italian heart specialists and other doctors.
They will include Prof Antonio Curnis, Associated Professor, University of Brescia, who was one of the speakers at last week's Middle East Cardiovascular Disease and Intervention Conference at Arab Health.
Prof Curnis is a forerunner in Italy of biventricular pacing, which uses a special kind of pacemaker to treat the delay in heart ventricle contractions.
Also joining the medical staff is Emirati cardiac surgeon Professor Abdallah Raweh who studied and graduated in Italy.
The Medicina Futura Group has worked closely with Dubai FDI, the Dubai Investment Development Agency in the Department of Economic Development (DED)-Government of Dubai, in planning its first venture outside Italy.
Discussions involved Fahad Al Gergawi, Dubai FDI's Chief Executive Officer, its European partner Francesco Corbello and Italian lawyer Amalia Gravante.
