Iraq is planning to build a residential town on the site of a military camp that was occupied by the terror Daesh group in the Northern Mosul city, an Iraq official was reported on Sunday as saying.
The town on the site of “Al-Ghozlani Camp”, which was destroyed after Daesh was defeated in Nineveh Governorate a few years ago, is intended to “tackle a festering housing crisis” in the city due to the conflict, said Abdul Qadir Al-Dakheel, executive director of the Higher Committee for the Reconstruction of Mosul.
“The Governorate is moving in the right direction in its post-war reconstruction programme...we have plans to turn Al-Ghozlani Camp into a massive housing complex that will greatly contribute to tackling the housing crisis in the city,” Dakheel told the official Iraqi news agency.
He said the project comprises hundreds of houses as well as commercial and educational facilities, adding that there are also plans to build 297 hospitals in Mosul and other towns in Nineveh.
