Dubai, UAE, 29 June 2014
As part of its commitment to encourage healthier habits amongst the UAE community, du has established several healthy-living initiatives for its employees during Ramadan. These fall in line with du's year-round employee wellness programme, under the umbrella of its Every Step Counts campaign.
The first stage of du's Ramadan wellness initiative was a Wellness Parade, held at du's headquarters in Dubai Media City, and in the company's offices in Dubai International Academic City. In partnership with City Centre Clinic, Unilever, Health Factory and Ergoera, 400 du employees participated to receive blood pressure and sugar checks; facial skin analysis; testing for glaucoma; a consultation with a clinical dietician; reflexology sessions; body composition analysis; food samples; ergonomic and posture training, and exclusive discounts, vouchers and gift hampers.
Employees were also invited to attend a Work Stress workshop with renowned psychologist - Dr Avinash De Sousa as the guest speaker. Dr Avinash taught attendees how to use the 4G model - Goodness, Gratitude, Giving, and Getting Together - to help balance the pressures of professional and personal life, especially with the additional obligations of Ramadan.
Additionally, du employees will receive a daily wellness health tip quiz during Ramadan, as well as being invited to participate in the company's annual Ramadan Cup football tournament, which will take place on 10-11 July.
"We are committed to empowering our employees with the knowledge and tools they need to live a healthier life, in-line with our Every Step Counts wellbeing campaign," said Dr. Mansoor Anwar, Medical and Occupational Health Services, du. "This Ramadan, we aim to inspire our colleagues to make healthy choices and retain a healthy sense of balance in all aspects of their life. We look forward to sharing the blessings of the Holy Month with them, and wish them, and the wider UAE community, Ramadan Kareem."
