Jeddah - InSinkErator, a business unit of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), the inventor and the world's largest manufacturer of food waste disposers and instant hot water dispensers for home and commercial use, has signed an agreement with the Saudi Arabian Company for Tools and Hardware (SACO), a publicly-listed company specializing in import, export, wholesale and retail of hardware products. The agreement will provide InSinkErator access to SACO's extensive retail network across the Kingdom.

Mohamed Karam, Business Development Manager for the Middle East and Africa for InSinkErator commented, "We are delighted to team up with a partner with a retail network as widespread as SACO. Consumers in the Kingdom are increasingly aware of sustainability and their carbon-footprint and have been demanding state-of-the-art solutions for hygienic and efficient disposal of waste towards contributing to a safer environment. Saudi Arabia is one of the main regional markets outside the UAE that we are exploring and we believe that our partnership with SACO will provide us the competitive advantage of a trusted and wide-spread network of outlets where customers can have access to our product range. Going one step beyond conventional waste disposal, our aim is helping reduction of food waste that can also be converted to biosolids or biogas as part of a sustainable waste management approach."

SACO is one of the largest companies providing home improvement products in Saudi Arabia. It operates 23 stores in 12 cities kingdom-wide, including three SACO World superstores. Faisal Al Hamidi from SACO commented, "We are looking forward to displaying InSinkErator products at our retail stores. Through this partnership, we are keen to drive the growth of modern waste management techniques like efficient disposal, it will help both individuals and Institutions to reduce their total waste, increase their kitchen hygiene plus it contributes to a more sustainable society in KSA"

Earlier this year, InSinkErator was awarded for its contribution to the UAE State of Energy Report 2015. The results of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study conducted by the company in 2013 which showed that for a community of 30,000 people, a shift to food waste disposers would provide enough electricity to power 25 homes for a year. Operating out of the Dubai hub and supported by an advanced logistics system, InSinkErator's products have both commercial and household applications, also significant to the food services sector and the region's growing hospitality industry. Food waste disposers reduce the amount of waste generated by an average family by about 30 to 40 per cent. InSinkErator food waste disposers use only about one per cent or less of a household's total water consumption and cost on average three to five riyals a year in electric usage. Such food disposal practices also protect kitchen plumbing as food particles are finely ground before reaching the drain.
