Bahrain's Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry said essential roadworks worth BD400,000 ($1.06 million), including concrete bricklaying works, have started on the Isa Town Road 1218 development project.

The road between Doha Street and Muscat Street in the southern governorate forms part of the ministry’s infrastructure development programme.

The project is being implemented through direct contracting with the Abdul Hadi Al Amn Company for Civil Works handling the BD300,000 civil works and Yoko Company the BD100,000 Asphalt laying works.

The scope of work includes the construction of a rainwater drainage network and complete repaving of the road and adding low sidewalks paved with bricks to provide a large number of parking spaces. Lighting, traffic safety signs and ground lines are also being installed.

On completion, the project would help solve traffic congestion on Route 77 – Ajwad Al Jabri – which is also used as a main entrance to the area’s comprehensive social services complex in Isa Town.

It will also help reduce queues, resolve car parking issues and prevent seasonal flooding at a busy area of Isa Town, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
