Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) has received five bids for its 3 MWac solar carport project.
The project involves the development of a grid-tied solar photovoltaic power plant as car park shades with a minimum capacity of 3 MWac on Build-Own-Operate-Maintain (BOOM) basis for a 20-year period, according to a statement posted on Bahrain Tender Board's website.
The bidders were International Irec Energy; Aradous Energy Generations Co; Esmaely Lenzohm Electrical Co; Down Town Construction Company and Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo. The bid values weren't disclosed.
The tender board statement said the technical envelope would be opened first and only bidders who pass would be financially evaluated.
The Request for Proposal was issued by the Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA) on BIC's behalf on 12 May with a closing date of 16 June 2021.
BIC had said last month that the project is expected to deliver enough energy to power the entire Formula 1 race weekend and supports Bahrain’s commitment to increase renewable energy use in the Kingdom and Formula 1’s plan to have net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
The circuit has parking facilities for 13,000 cars, according to past media reports.
