Riyadh: Under the Patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh, VOX Cinemas, and in partnership with the Mzwalah City initiative, will run its first ever public screening in Saudi Arabia from 1st to 3rd March to bring attention to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease in the GCC.

Marking the first appearance of the MENA region’s largest cinemas’ operator in the Kingdom, VOX Cinemas’ screening will be hosted at the Digital City in Riyadh, which is opening its doors for the first time for the Mzwalah initiative. The initiative is designed to identify practical roles that members of the Saudi Alzheimer’s Disease Association can play in the community.

The General Commission of Audiovisual Media have lent their support by reaching out to a range of local content producers who will provide films and have authorised VOX Cinemas’ first appearance on Saudi soil. Saudi film producers Myrkott will screen ‘Masameer’ alongside content from fellow local producer Telfaz Company. The entrance fees for the event will go towards the ‘Mzwalah City’ project.

Commenting on the event, Mohamed Al Hashemi, Business Development Director at Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, operator of the Middle East’s most popular cinema brand, said, “It is an honour for Majid Al Futtaim to mark VOX Cinemas’ entry into Saudi Arabia in the first event of its kind in the Kingdom, supporting such a worthy and noble cause. Saudi Alzheimer’s Disease Association does incredible work and I can think of no better way for VOX Cinemas to introduce itself to Saudi Arabia than to help shine a light on this important social topic.”
