Dubai: The leading European platform for audiobooks, Storytel, is launching in UAE. Storytel's streaming service, something like a "Netflix" version for audiobooks, allows its users to listen to unlimited audiobooks of all kinds through an App installed on their mobile phone. Storytel in UAE is the first audiobook subscription service launching with a focus on both Arabic and English languages, and it will be available to users in all Arabic speaking regions.
Storytel aims to participate and drive the growth of the audiobook industry in the Arab World. The rise in subscription services and increased penetration of mobile broadband combined with a large percentage of the population moving to smartphones creates an environment that is conducive to increased consumption of stories on the go.
Storytel in UAE will start with two languages; Arabic, and English. The catalogue at launch includes thousands of English audiobooks and more than 350 high-quality Arabic audiobooks. Storytel is especially happy to present bestselling titles by Ihsan Abdel Quddous and Ahmed Khaled Tawfik for the first time in audio.
Storytel is committed to increasing Arabic titles in the catalogue significantly in the coming period. The aim is to build the best and most extensive Arabic audiobook catalogue by launching at least one Arabic audiobook per day throughout 2018. On top of that, Storytel will also introduce Storytel Original series in Arabic. These are 10 episode series written especially for audio consumption.
Storytel is a primary participant in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2018. Between April 25th and May 1st, Storytel will introduce the service to fair's visitors through its booth and over 60 Arabic publishers who have partnered with Storytel.
