MUSCAT: Majlis Ash’shura hosted Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance who delivered a statement on the draft state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2022, on Sunday.

The members of Majlis Ash’shura held discussions with the minister of finance on several items including the estimates of the public spending and revenues, public debt management, subsidy policies, the position of government investments, the economic diversification programmes and the direct foreign investment.

This came at the third ordinary meeting of the third annual sitting (2021-2022) of the ninth term (2019-2023) of Majlis Ash’shura held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali in the presence of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ash’shura.

At the beginning of the meeting, the chairman of Majlis Ash’shura delivered a speech welcoming the minister of finance saying that the session is dedicated to discussing the draft state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2022, to identify the state’s fiscal policies and the financial position for the next year a year after the approval of the Fiscal Balance Plan 2020-2024 and the indicators it has shown.

Majlis Ash’shura will hold its fourth ordinary meeting on Monday to discuss the report of the Economic and Financial Committee on the state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2022 as well as other reports of the standing committees.
