Muscat: The first Empty Quarter Festival will start on December 23.

The festival is organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism represented by the General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar, in cooperation with a number of government agencies and the private sector, and will continue until the January 8, 2022.

Khalid bin Abdullah Al Abri, Director General of the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar, said in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the first edition will be among the regional festivals.

"It focuses on several main objectives, including translating the vision of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to make the Governorate of Dhofar a sustainable tourist destination throughout the year and not be limited to the Khareef season," Al Albri added.
