Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) announced on Tuesday that it is retendering its 120 Million Gallons Per Day (MIGD) Hassyan Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Plant (SWRO) Project.
The plant, which is the utility's first Independent Water Producer (IWP) model project, had received the world's lowest water levelised tariff of $0.306 per cubic metre, DEWA had announced in February.
"Interested parties, having experience of building and operating similar projects, are invited to partake in the tendering process for which the submission deadline is 3 August 2020," the utility said in its latest statement on Tuesday.
The IWP project would be commissioned in August 2023, the statement added.
DEWA had issued an Expression of Interest for the project on 10 June 2019 with submission deadline of 9 July 2019. Subsequently, the Request for Qualification was issued to 34 interested bidders.
Nine bidders were prequalified and the Request for Proposal was issued on 13 October 2019 with a submission deadline of 21 January 2020, which was extended to 27 February 2020.
Last month, Zawya Projects had reported that the contract to develop the IWP project would be awarded in the fourth quarter of 2020.
