Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is expected to award the consultancy contract for its 3.6-gigawatt (GW) combined cycle gas turbine power plant at Nuwaiseeb Phase 1 by the first quarter of 2022.

“The advisory consultancy contract is expected to be awarded by end of January 2022. The bid submission deadline is 23 November 2021,” a source aware of the project details told Zawya Projects.

The consultancy firm will carry out studies, design, and preparation of tender documents for the power plant.

In February 2021, the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) had appointed an Ernst & Young consortium for two Independent Water and Power Plant (IWPP) projects, namely, the 1.8GW and 125 million imperial gallons per day Al Khairan (Phase 1) and the 2.7GW and 165 MIGD Az-Zour North 2 (Phase 2 & 3).
