Pfizer Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of the global American company Pfizer, announced the appointment of Dr. Hani Al-Hashmi as the company's senior medical director and official spokesperson, Dr. Hani joined the company's medical leadership team in Africa and Middle East Regions.
This appointment of Dr. Al-Hashmi as senior medical director of Pfizer Saudi Arabia comes as the latest addition to the company's medical leadership team in the region. During his career Dr. Al-Hashmi had a wealthy experience and held number of important positions, the last of which was Director of the Oncology Center at King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Dammam. Dr. Al-Hashmi is a consultant who completed his university studies in Medical Technology at King Abdul Aziz University in 1999. After that, he pursued his medical education at McMaster University, Canada, where he obtained his doctorate in medicine in 2003. He received his postgraduate training in internal medicine at the University of Western, Ontario, and obtained a hematology fellowship from McMaster University, and a fellowship in Oncology and Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) from the University of Calgary. He spent the last part of his training at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) in Seattle, completed an Executive Master of Science Degree in Health Administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2013, he presented several scientific papers on topics including “Lymphoma”, and “Service development”, and “Health Economics”.
Dr. Al-Hashmi has an extensive experience in developing medical services and formulating related policies and strategies. He previously led the National Strategy for Cancer Care and The Specialized Oncology Services at the Ministry of Health since 2017, over the past ten years, he helped in establishing 5 stem cell transplantation programs and more than 10 oncology departments throughout the Kingdom, in addition to his participation in developing future strategies, clinical services and education and research in the field of hematology, oncology and cellular therapy at the national and regional levels. He also worked on several national committees at the level of the Ministry of Health, Saudi Health Council & Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Dr. Al-Hashmi expressed his pleasure to be appointed as Senior Medical Director of Pfizer Saudi Arabia.
