Dubai: - A delegation of prominent high-profile international business women from the Netherlands visited the UAE and Expo 2020 Dubai for their ‘East meets West’ female leadership study trip under the leadership of Carine de Meyere, founder of Women of the World. What all these women have in common is having a passion for Middle Eastern culture and a clear interest in doing business with the Middle East.

During a lunch at the Netherlands Pavilion, hosted by H.E. Carel Richter, Commissioner General and Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the delegation met with H.E. Sheikha Hind Bint Majid Al Qassimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) and Nadia Verjee, Chief of Staff, Expo 2020 Dubai. In the presence of other inspiring local business women, topics discussed included the scope of business opportunities in the UAE and the Netherlands by women, the similarities, differences and learnings from both sides.

Emphasizing that the visit was a key opportunity to further the distinguished bilateral relations between women entrepreneurs in the UAE and the Netherlands, H.E. Sheikha Hind Bint Majid al Qassimi, noted: “This vibrant exchange with our Dutch counterparts, represented by inspiring women business leaders, allowed us to understand their emerging interests and regional aspirations as we explored collaboration opportunities for Emirati and Dutch business women across traditional and non-traditional market sectors. At SBWC, we offer a world-class platform for ambitious business women and women entrepreneurs to tap into potential market prospects, and establish their regional presence in Sharjah and the UAE. With SBWC offering an ecosystem of support to women across the world, women business owners and entrepreneurs from the Netherlands interested in the business landscape of Sharjah and the UAE , will have all the support they need to enter the local market.

Nadia Verjee, Chief of Staff, Expo 2020 Dubai says : “Here at Expo and in the UAE, we know full well the power of partnerships to drive growth and progress. The building of close ties between women business leaders in the Netherlands and the UAE, will help us to understand one another better, and to identify opportunities for productive collaboration. Put simply, there is no sustainable economic or social recovery without the full contribution of women: in the family, in the community, and increasingly in the boardrooms of some of the world’s most promising enterprises. It is a pleasure to welcome some of those leaders to Expo.”

“Women are undoubtedly born-leaders! The UAE as a nation and even Expo organization takes pride to hold women in senior leadership and decision-making positions. I’m very honored to have the presence of H.E. Sheikha Hind Bint Majid Al Qassimi, Nadia Verjee from the Expo organization along with other inspiring business women at the Netherlands Pavilion today. Our pavilion is a platform to connect like-minded individuals and build authentic collaborations to explore various business opportunities together” comments H.E. Carel Richter.

‘Women of the World’ connects the dots through people and technology in order to empower women. The organization serves as a global umbrella for independent cause driven impact investing and aims to empower female founders to start their own business, to think big and therefore approach their businesses from a global point of view. Women of the World also inspires women through technology in the broadest sense of the word by engaging them in East meets West discussions.

“I am honored to be leading a diverse East meets West female leadership delegation to the UAE to objectively create better understanding and to obtain insights about doing business in the UAE from local Emirati! By engaging in discussions I aim to simultaneously bridge the gap between the various East and West cultures! My motto is - If you work alone you can go fast, however if you work together you can go far. And with the first ever Women’s Pavilion created during a World Expo this is exactly what the UAE leadership of the World Expo has established!” concludes Carine de Meyere, President and Founder of Women of the World.
