To provide working professionals the critical skills and industry knowledge needed to prepare for potential disasters, Georgetown University is offering a Virtual Alumni Panel information session about their one-year International Executive Master's in Emergency & Disaster Management (IEDM) degree program on Tuesday, March 2, at 4:00 p.m. (Qatar Time.)

Offered by Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies in Washington, DC, the IEDM program provides practical real-world experience and engagement opportunities with leading experts in the field. At the alumni panel, previous graduates of the program will offer insights into their own experience, and share how it helped advance their careers. The information session will also provide information about the program’s international engagements, curriculum, requirements, fees, and offer a chance to ask questions about the program.

Georgetown Faculty Director Dr. Tim Frazier noted that the ongoing global pandemic highlights the importance of organizational competence in the field of emergency preparedness. “Natural disasters and other emergencies can happen at any time,” Dr. Frazier said. “To build organizational resilience, employees should have the strong critical thinking and problem solving skills needed to prepare for and respond to a host of risks.”

Students who have enrolled in the career-focused program represent a diverse group of professionals across many industries, including first response, planning, public policy, global health, human and social services, military, humanitarian aid, and government.

The information session is open to the public and reservations are not required. Find out more at http://scs.georgetown.edu/panel
