Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates : The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development organized a celebration on the occasion of the 50th National Day of the United Arab Emirates in the presence of His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, His Excellency Khalifa Abdulla Al Qubaisi, Deputy Director General, directors of departments and all Fund employees.

The celebration began with the UAE national anthem and included a variety of authentic Emirati performances, national activities and heritage competitions. The event focused on telling the story of the union of the Emirates forged by the founding fathers and showcased the most prominent pioneering achievements made by the UAE over the past fifty years. These achievements were the result of the government's commitment to implement the vision and directives of the UAE’s wise leadership, which contributed to achieving great progress and prosperity for the country and making it one of the world's leading nations.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, expressed to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, "may God protect him", His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and their brothers, their Highness members of the Supreme Council, the rulers of the Emirates, and to the honourable people of the UAE, his warmest congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the UAE's Golden Jubilee.

His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi said: "Our celebration on the second of December of each year embodies the history that began with the establishment of the United Arab Emirates by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brothers, the rulers of the Emirates, who laid the foundation for developing this country. Their vision was the basis for the developmental renaissance that the UAE achieved during the past fifty years. Thanks to our wise leadership's approach, proactive thinking, and unimaginable ambition, the UAE today has become a leading global model of comprehensive development for nations and people to follow.”

His Excellency added: "The achievements made by the United Arab Emirates provide an excellent foundation to now embark on the beginning of a new phase looking out over the next fifty years. We are driven as a nation to always strive for greatness and push ourselves to build a more prosperous future for new generations. We are extremely confident in the capabilities of our nation's youth that they will continue to lead the UAE to the highest levels of success and prosperity. We will intensify our efforts to strive for more unprecedented achievements across a wide range of fields to ensure that the UAE will always be among the best developed countries in the world.”

Since its establishment in 1971, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development has accompanied the union on this blessed journey that spanned over half a century, during which it worked to deliver on our leadership’s great ambitions to support economic and social development needs of developing countries. Over 50 years the Fund has helped 103 countries around the world achieve their economic and social development goals. The strategic projects financed by the Fund and the measurable impact they have on millions of people’s lives have also contributed to helping build a strong international reputation for the UAE as a global leader in sustainable development.
