AMMAN – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has just been signed by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA), and Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU); to cooperate in disseminating the quality education activities, university accreditation and capacity-building services.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pleasure for the cooperation agreement with the Association, pointing out that AROQA has updated its accreditation standards for educational institutions in accordance with the international standards, requirements of Digital Knowledge Revolution and scientific research; as well as for enhancing university students’ professional capacities to become qualified teachers with digital learning skills.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) --that works under the league of the League of the Arab States—further announced that ASREN, in collaboration with the European Union, has established a special Internet line for scientific research to assist researchers, academics and students' access to the global Research and Education (R&E) network, as well as to link the educational and research institutions with research centers around the world.

He also affirmed that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) is ready to put all its resources and expertise at the service of the AArU, expressing his hope that the MoU will be a good starting point for a new era of cooperation in various activities between both parties.

For his part, Dr. Salama stated that the Association seeks through cooperation with AROQA to achieve its goals in promoting quality university education to face the current challenges the world is experiencing in the education sector, praising Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s role and efforts in improving the quality of education in general with a special focus on the Arab region through ‘AROQA’ and other organizations and firms, His Excellency Dr. Abu Ghazaleh chairs at TAG.Global.

The MoU provides for cooperation in the field of quality services by organizing conferences, seminars and workshops. It also strives to elevate the educational level at the Arab universities to meet the international requirements, by holding various programs and training courses in order to disseminate quality culture and support their quality assurance centers; as well as by offering consulting services related to educational quality at Arab universities.

In the field of accreditation, the two parties agreed on collaborating to set up the accreditation standards of universities in the Arab countries that will be based on “innovation, creativity, utilization of technology in remote learning, digital learning, educational research, and quality of learning and education. That is in addition to jointly holding training courses, building capacities and other related fields.
