Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has approved additional flights to and from Sharurah Airport, in the Najran Province, near the Yemeni border.

The kingdom's national carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) will operate twice weekly return flights to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah from March 1.

The move is part of GACA’s effort to develop the regional airport network in Saudi Arabia. The aim is connecting the kingdom with an integrated air network and raising the level of competitiveness and striking a balance between supply and demand in the air transport market.

Lately, GACA started its efforts with Prince Nayif bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Al-Qassim Region, Prince Abdulmohsin bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Yanbu, Hail International Airport and Taif International Airport, and today it continues to implement its development efforts at Sharurah Airport. - TradeArabia News Service
