Kuwait's Jazeera Airways launches flights to Addis Ababa

 

This will be the second new service for the airline in 2021. The route will connect Kuwait and Addis Ababa twice a week, offering connections to the rest of the Middle East and Asia.

 

Rohit Ramachandran, CEO Jazeera Airways, said: “We are pleased to continue with our network expansion plans. There is a significant Ethiopian expatriate population living in Kuwait and the across the region and opening this new route will provide them with a great value option. Jazeera Airways has plans to launch a number of new routes during the year as travel gradually returns around the world thanks to vaccinations rolling out.”

 

Passengers arriving in to Ethiopia must hold a negative RT PCR test certificate for Covid-19 and must self-isolate for 14 days on arrival, either at their home or at a hotel.

 

Flight J9-781 will depart Kuwait every Saturday and Tuesday at 09.35 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 13.35 pm. Flight J9-782 will depart Addis Ababa on the same days at 14.20 and arrive in Kuwait at 18.10.

 

Flights to Addis Ababa will be on Jazeera’s expanding fleet of new Airbus A320neo aircraft, all equipped with hospital grade HEPA air filters. Jazeera Airways has also taken every safety and precautionary measure on its aircraft and at Jazeera Terminal T5 in Kuwait to ensure passengers fly safely.

 

Since the start of the pandemic, the airline has been at the forefront of supporting government efforts to prevent its spread.

 

Jazeera placed its fleet at the disposal of the State of Kuwait and participated in the largest air bridge repatriation program ever launched by the State of Kuwait. The airline operated over 60 flights bringing home over 6,800 Kuwaiti citizens from around the world, as well as converted its Park & Fly facility in record time into the first drive-through Covid-19 centre in Kuwait for the use by the Ministry of Health. A second drive-through testing facility has also been constructed by the Jazeera Airways team at the Jaber Al-Ahmad national stadium.

 

The airline also continued to serve business without interruption by operating full-cargo flights with a capacity of up to 15 tons per aircraft to bring in essential supplies to Kuwait. Jazeera also operated flights scheduled under the directive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by request from local embassies to fly expatriates traveling out of Kuwait.

 

By the end of June, Jazeera Airways announced offering 50,000 free round-trip tickets to frontline heroes fighting the Covid-19 pandemic in the State of Kuwait. The total value of these tickets is estimated at KD5 million, the airline said. – TradeArabia News Service
