Egypt received 546,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses from the French government under the Covax initiative, Health Minister Hala Zayed revealed.

Zayed added that Egypt will receive its first batch of 1.6 million Pfizer doses on September 24th.

Egypt is expected to get around 3.5-4 million doses of AstraZeneca this week from France, Germany, Greece and Poland.

Additionally, the Egyptian government is expecting to obtain 17 million additional doses in September, which includes several international shipments as well local Sinovac, which is currently being produced at a rate of 300,000 doses a day.

Egypt has now disclosed a total of 296,929 confirmed cases of covid-19.
