Diamond Developers, the real estate developers of Dubai’s Sustainable City, said it has signed a agreement with Siemens to explore implementing new smart solutions for its existing and future projects and help make sustainable cities ‘smarter.’

The signing was done via video call between Diamond Developers offices in The Sustainable City, and Siemens offices in Abu Dhabi and Germany.

The MoU sets a framework for Siemens and Diamond Developers to create a partnership that supports the building of low carbon, inclusive, safe, and resilient cities and communities across the world.

CEO Faris Saeed said Diamond Developers was committed to turn Dubai, and the UAE in general, into one of the most sustainable countries in the world.

"We can all play a part and contribute to achieving this goal, and this partnership with Siemens will help us continue enhancing and improving our model of sustainable cities in the UAE and around the world, making our cities smarter and more efficient, and enhancing quality of life in general," he stated.

Siemens Middle East CEO (Smart Infrastructure) Franco Atassi said: "Sustainable City in Dubai is already a model of efficiency, exporting more than a quarter of its solar power and avoiding tons of carbon emissions a year."

"Our approach of creating digitalized ecosystems from the point of power generation all the way to consumption can bolster energy efficiency and help protect the planet," he stated.

The Dubai developer said the Sustainable City was designed as a model for future cities, with the ultimate illustration of social, environmental, and economic solutions, to make the city truly sustainable it was designed around people’s needs, quality of life, and wellbeing.

The city grows its own food, produces renewable energy, recycles water & waste, restricts cars and encourages clean mobility. This results in reducing carbon emissions, increasing performance, and minimizing cost, it added.

Siemens has a long history of digitalizing infrastructure across the Middle East, with regional landmarks such as the Dubai International Airport, Dubai Opera and Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque using Siemens technology to realize significant energy efficiency, safety and security gains.

As Expo 2020 Dubai’s Infrastructure Digitalization Partner, Siemens is helping create one of the most connected and sustainable world expos in history, remarked Atassi.

The digital solutions provided by Siemens will monitor and control building functions across the site, including air conditioning, energy usage, lighting control, elevators, air quality and fire alarm systems, he stated.

Data from these systems will help reduce energy usage, ensure the comfort of building users and maintain maximum levels of safety and security, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
