Spain's budget deficit narrowed to the equivalent of 4.8% of gross domestic product in 2022 from 6.76% in 2021, Budget Minister Maria Jesus Montero said on Thursday.

"Spain once again managed to meet its budget commitments, with a public deficit of 4.8% of GDP (in 2022). The figure is even better that the (prediction) sent to the European Commission," Montero told reporters. (Reporting by Emma Pinedo; Editing by Inti Landauro and Frank Jack Daniel)
