Ireland's annual consumer price index (CPI) fell as expected last month to 4.1% from 4.6% in December, Central Statistics Office data showed on Thursday.

The data confirmed that inflation as measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which strips out mortgage interest costs, fell back to 2.7% while the HICP rate excluding energy and unprocessed goods dropped to 3.8%. (Reporting by Padraic Halpin; editing by William James)
