Consumer prices fell in the Netherlands in October as cooling energy costs outweighed a continuing rise in food prices, a first estimate showed on Tuesday.

Consumer prices in the euro zone's fifth largest economy in October on average dropped 0.4% from the year before from growth of 0.2% in September, the Dutch national statistics office said.

Excluding energy prices, inflation was 5.1% in October, down from 5.5% in September. (Reporting by Bart Meijer; Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
