ABU DHABI – Tawazun Council, the government entity that works closely with the UAE Armed Forces, security agencies and Abu Dhabi Police, announced the issuance of a Testing and Qualification UAE Standards for Small Calibre Ammunition.
The UAE Standards, which will be based on internationally applicable standards such as NATO standards, aims to ensure the quality and safety of small calibre ammunition in the UAE. Over the next six months, the UAE Standards will be published and implemented.
Proof House, which is part of the TIP-based Tawazun Testing and Qualification Centre (TTQC), has been accredited by Tawazun Council to test and validate the functionality and safety of ammunition in accordance with international standards. The Type Approval, validated and released by the Proof House for small calibre ammunition, will be a requirement for any defence and security procurement contract, as well as for product licensing for export and import control purposes.
Tareq Abdulraheem Al Hosani, Secretary-General of Tawazun Council, expressed the Council’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in defence and security products, as part of its mandate to regulate the import, export, exploitation, and disposal, in any form, of technology, defence, and security products.
"The establishment of this new testing facility represents a significant step forward for the country’s defence and military sectors. The Centre will be a valuable resource for Tawazun's strategic partners and other organisations seeking the highest level of expertise and service in ammunition testing,” he added.
“As a leading testing facility, Proof House provides a wide range of services to the defence and military sectors. The Centre's testing capabilities include the evaluation of the reliability, durability, and accuracy, as well the performance and safety of ammunition,” he further said.

The Centre is outfitted with cutting-edge testing equipment and facilities, allowing it to put a wide range of ammunition, and other defence and military equipment through their paces.

Part of the TTQC, Proof House is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It uses advanced technology to test and validate small calibre ammunition, a competitive advantage that puts it among the world’s top test centres.
The UAE is a member of the Brussels-based Commission Internationale Permanente Pour l`Epreuve des Armes à Feu portatives (CIP).
Accordingly, the Proof House tests and validates all UAE-made ammunition to ensure that they meet all safety requirements for international markets.
