AMMAN — Eid Al Fitr will begin on Friday, April 21, corresponding to the 1st of Shawwal, 1444, the Kingdom’s Grand Mufti Abdul Karim Khasawneh said on Thursday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Khasawneh indicated, during a religious moon sighting ceremony held at the King Hussein Mosque, that Friday marks the first day of Shawwal.

Khasawneh conveyed greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Hussein, the Hashemite family, and Jordanians.

He also recited prayers for His Majesty's good health and the safety and stability of Jordan, as well as other Arab and Islamic countries.
