Hong Kong stocks slipped at the open Friday morning as investors awaited a key policy decision by the Bank of Japan later in the day.

The Hang Seng Index fell 0.47 percent, or 84.56 points, to 18,028.07.

The Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.26 percent, or 7.96 points, to 3,020.96, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange eased 0.23 percent, or 3.81 points, to 1,679.65.
