China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with his Japanese counterpart Yasutoshi Nishimura in San Francisco on Tuesday, where they agreed to establish a dialogue on export controls and a working group on boosting business ties, the ministry said on Thursday.

Wang also discussed with Nishimura China's application to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and adding new members to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the statement from the commerce ministry read.
