Investcorp, a leading global alternative investment firm, plans to grow its business from $50 billion assets under management (AUM) to $100 billion AUM, said Mohammed Alardhi, Investcorp’s Executive Chairman.

“New and disruptive business models are rising quickly and understanding the interplay between different megatrends is far from easy – but we all know that sustainability, the energy transition and digitalisation will define the coming decades,” Alardhi told Investcorp’s 2023 Leadership Programme, which addressed major issues facing modern leaders – from adapting to the pace of next generation technology to leading in a dynamic, fast-evolving economy.

Alardhi also shared insights from his multi-decade career in the armed forces and the investment industry, and how his experiences had shaped him as a leader.

Levels of complexity

“The modern leader is challenged to navigate increasing levels of complexity,” said Alardhi.

Over five days, 45 participants attended engaging sessions covering global economic and political trends, the financing of innovation and industry and digital transformation at the programme held in partnership with European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin.

During the programme, he spoke about the firm’s present and future plans in a fireside chat moderated by Professor Jörg Rocholl PhD, President, and Deutsche Bank Professor in Sustainable Finance, ESMT Berlin.

He added: “Investcorp is committed to knowledge-sharing and shaping the next generation of leaders, and our programme aims to equip attendees with the skills they need to make the right decisions in an age of technology and disruption.”

Equipping future business

“At a time when there is a myriad of opportunities available for up-and-coming leaders, with rapid AI, technology, and sustainability developments, it is essential that we equip future business owners and managers with the knowledge, tools, and insights to succeed in an ever-evolving backdrop,” added Professor Rocholl.

ESMT is ranked the number one business school in Germany, and one of the leading schools worldwide. To better understand the energy transition’s economic and social applications, the Investcorp cohort also visited the EUREF-CAMPUS – a smart urban district and a living experiment for the shift to renewable energy and networked mobility.
