The Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO), and Norwegian renewable power producer Scatec have signed an agreement on the production of green ammonia from green hydrogen, Egyptian petroleum ministry announced on February 24th.
Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla said that the deal comes as part of the government’s commitment to enforcing international treaties and agreements on climate change.
El-Molla added that the agreement also matches the ministry's vision for energy transition policies to gradually reduce emissions to turn Egypt into a regional hub for energy.
