WETICO, a Riyadh-based water treatment company, has secured contracts for two seawater desalination plants in El Taref and Bejaia, Algeria, the company announced in a statement posted on Linkedin.
The two deals were signed with Société Algérienne de Réalisation de Projets Industriels (SARPI) and Entreprise Nationale de Canalisations (ENAC).
Each of the plants will have a capacity of 300,000 cubic metres per day (m3/day).
The work scope for the projects includes the provision of design, engineering and procurement services as well as supervision of construction, testing and commissioning.
Details on project cost, construction timelines and desalination technology weren’t disclosed.
The projects, commissioned by the state-owned Sonatrach Group, are part of the Algerian government's desalination programme, which provides funding for the construction of five new seawater desalination plants.
