Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that it will tender four water transmission projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to transport potable water.

The four Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) projects represent an aggregate length of 1,246 kilometres and transmission capacity of 1.6 million cubic metres per day (m3/day), according to project details supplied by the National Centre for Privatisation & PPP (NCP).

The projects would be procured by the Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture, under 30-year Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) contracts.

The projects are listed below as per their launch dates:

Tabuk-Al Ula IWTP

Location:  Tabuk – Al Ula

Capacity: 497,000 m3/day

Length: 546 km

Launch: July 2024

Rabigh-Jeddah IWTP

Location: Rabigh - Jeddah

Capacity: 600,000 cubic meters/day

Length: 100 km

Launch: July 2025

Jazan IWTP

Location: Jazan

Capacity: 300,000 cubic meters/day

Length: 250 km

Launch: Date not specified

Ras Al Khair – Hafr Al Batin IWTP

Location:  Ras Al khair – Hafr Al Batin

Capacity: 200,000 m3/day

Length: 350 km

Launch: Date not specified

Saudi Arabia is also offering seven  desalination projects, 10 strategic reservoir and 6 wastewater projects under the PPP model.
