ArabFinance: Shell Lubricants Egypt has renewed its partnership agreement with the international gold producer Centamin's Sukari Gold Mine (SGM) for further five years, according to a press release issued on February 8th.

Accordingly, Shell Lubricants Egypt will remain as the sole supplier of lubricants to Centamin’s SGM, the release remarked, pointing out that the two companies have been partners at SGM since 2014.

The renewal of the partnership is expected to have a direct impact on Shell Lubricants Egypt’s customers and to contribute to environmental stability.

It also supports Shell’s customers in achieving commercial success through supplying lubricants and providing technical services, marketing activities, and various other solutions.

“Under this partnership, Shell would continue to support the activities at SGM, with the aim of exclusively supplying the mine with lubricant for the next 5 years,” Managing Director of Shell Lubricant Egypt Amal El Sheikh said.

“We certainly take pride in the fact that Shell has been the leading global supplier of finished lubricants for 15 consecutive years. Also, it is important to highlight that Shell Lubricants and Centamin have spent 8 years enabling great progress towards attaining commercial success, and achieving zero downtime,” she added.

For his part, Youssef El Raghy, Managing Director of Centamin’s SGM, stated: “Shell Lubricant has proven over the past 8 years that it is the ideal partner in success, as it is the most consummate company when it comes to providing the best and the most high-quality lubricants, based on the latest technology, in addition to offering a multiplicity of different technical services.”

Moreover, El Raghy noted that the mining sector in Egypt has great potential to further boost economic growth.

It is worth noting that SGM, Egypt’s largest gold mine, has been in operation since 2009 and is projected to produce on average 500,000 ounces of gold annually for the coming 12 years.
