Siemens Energy said on Tuesday that has secured a major contract from Public Investment Fund - backed Saudi developer Roshn to power more than 30,000 homes within its 20 million square metre residential community in the capital.
Roshn was officially launched last year by PIF with the aim to develop communities in major cities across the kingdom and help increase the rate of Saudi home ownership to 70% as well as support job creation within the next 10 years.
Siemens Energy said in a statement that it will provide engineering, supply, construction, installation and commissioning services for the grid stations which will connect the residential community to the Saudi National Grid.
It said groundbreaking is scheduled for July. The work is expected to be energised by May 2023 and completed by August the same year.
The contract value wasn't disclosed.
Almost 30 per cent of the power transmitted in the kingdom relies on Siemens Energy’s technology, according to the press statement.
