Saudi Arabia has awarded a contract to a local company to build giant silos to store wheat and other grains with a value of 370 million riyals ($100 million), local newspapers reported on Thursday.
The Saudi Ports Authority on Wednesday signed the deal with the United Feed Manufacturing Company for the construction of the silos that will have a total storage capacity of 2.88 million tonnes, Almadina and other Saudi publications said.
The silos will be built at the Port of Jizan in Southwest Saudi Arabia and Ras Al-Khair Port, which is under development on the Eastern coast of the Gulf Kingdom.
The project involves the construction of 16 silos at both ports besides a grain distribution complex and a packaging factory, the report said.
