Oman’s Ministry of Health is expected to award the main construction contract for its Central Public Health Laboratory located at Al Seeb, Muscat Governorate, Oman, by the first quarter of 2022. 

“The main tender was issued on 16 June 2021 and the technical bid submission was on 10 October 2021. The main construction contract is expected to be awarded by early January 2022,” a source aware of the details told Zawya Projects. 

The source said the technical bidders for the main contract included Shaksy Engineering Services, Bahwan Contracting Company, Oman National Engineering and Investment Co, Al Adrak Trading and Contracting, Al Nahdha Omaniah Co, Albadi Investment Group, Al Khalili Construction, Alsalsabeel Trading Contracting, Towell Construction and Co, Larsen and Toubro Oman, Abuhatim Co, Galfar Engineering and Contracting, The Arab Contractors Oman, Altasnim Enterprises, Al Rawahi International Co, and  Al Hajiry Trading. 

The source said 20 companies were prequalified for the project. 

The scope of work involves the construction of a three-storey main laboratory building with a total built-up area of approximately 14,802 square metres (sqm) and associated ancillary buildings, a second source told Zawya Projects. The total plot area for the construction is 40,000 sqm.  

The second source estimated the project value at $60 million, adding that completion is slated for the fourth quarter of 2025.
