Kuwait will soon award contracts for oil pollution clean-up to three local companies worth nearly $900 million, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Sunday.

The state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), which had issued the tenders, has requested approval for the contract-awarding by the Central Agency for Public Tenders, the paper said, quoting KOC sources.
“The tenders included five main packages involving treatment of the oil-polluted soil in North and South Kuwait following the (1990-1991) Iraqi occupation,” the paper said elaborating on the contracts.
