OPEC oil producer Kuwait has pre-qualified four regional companies bidding for a 30-month contract involving providing repair and maintenance services for its oil tankers, a local newspaper reported on Monday. 

The four bidders pre-qualified by the government-owned Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) are Drydocks World Dubai, the Bahraini-based Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard Company, Oman Drydock Company and Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine Company in Qatar, the Arabic language daily Al-Anba said. 

The contract includes “providing regular repair and maintenance services” to all vessels owned by KOTC at the winning firm’s shipyard, the report said. 

It noted that KOTC, an offshoot of the state oil operator Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, owns 32 tankers for the transport of crude oil, petroleum products and LNG.
