Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) is poised to appoint contractors for its $900 million soil remediation project, Kuwaiti English language newspaper Arab Times said on Tuesday.

The newspaper, quoting local Arabic language newspaper Al-Anba, said KOC has recommended to the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) the appointment of Khaled Al-Kharafi Company, and Kuwait Company for Process Plant Construction & Contracting for two sites each and Al-Sayer Construction Company for one site.

In December 2020, Zawya Projects had reported that KOC is likely to award the contracts in the first quarter of 2021.

Arab Times said the project to treat 13 million cubic metres of soil contaminated as a result of Iraqi invasion comprised of five main packages that were tendered as two separate projects for North Kuwait and South Kuwait respectively.
