Iraq has launched a project to build a housing compound in the capital Baghdad comprising nearly 150 apartments, the local press said last week.

The Baghdad Secretariat (municipality) has awarded the project to investors seeking to benefit from post-war reconstruction plans, Aliqtisad News and other publications said.

The project, overlooking Tigris River, includes five 15-storey buildings comprising 150 flats as well as a shopping mall, swimming pools and other facilities, it said, adding that it is one of several projects intended to ease a housing crisis in the capital.
