Oman has issued four tenders for the construction of a date processing factory at a cost of around 92 million Omani rials ($240 million), the local media said on Wednesday.

The factory, slated to be one of the world's largest date processing facilities, is based in the Northern Nizwa province and is jointly owned by the newly-created Nakheel Oman Development Co and Oman National Investments Development Company (Tanmia), both state-owned,

The Omani Arabic language daily Al-Watan said the tenders cover infrastructure work, procurement and installation of steel structures for the factory, and the construction of facilities for mechanical and electrical works.
