Iraq's Southern Basra governorate has awarded a project to build a 15-storey hospital at a cost of around $44 million, a local news network reported on Wednesday.
The project has been awarded as "investment" to a local company and is part of plans to upgrade the health sector and expand services to citizens, Mawazeen News said, quoting a statement by Basra Investment Commission (BIC)
It said BIC awarded the contract for the construction of the 158-bed hospital, which also comprises 20 laboratories, blood bank, x-ray sections and other facilities.
