Construction work has resumed on Erbil's 150-metre ring road project, an Iraqi government official confirmed with Zawya Projects.

Kurdo Omar, media director of the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism in Iraq's Kurdistan region said work has restarted on one of the largest projects in the region.

He said: "Work on the project had been stopped due to the preventive measures and curfew imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19. The contractor Hewa Group resumed work on the project a few days ago on the condition that workers abide by health instructions."

He said that seven kilometres would be completed by the end of 2020, adding that 60 percent of the project was completed to date.

The 150-metre ring road, being developed at a cost of $131 million, is the sixth road encircling Erbil.
