Iraq has invited investors to build three industrial zones in different areas as part of plans approved by the government in 2021 to attract industrial capital and ease reliance on volatile oil export earnings, the official daily Alsabah said on Monday.
The Industry and Minerals Ministry announced such projects in three governorates, saying it would provide incentives to investors, the paper said.
It quoted Raghd Hamza, assistant manager of the Industrial Zones Commission at the Ministry, as saying the three zones are located in the Northern Nineveh Governorate, Najaf in Central Iraq and the Eastern Wasit Governorate.
“These projects have a combined area of several square kilometres and they are part of plans to build industrial zones in all governorates to support the economy and create jobs for citizens,” Hamza said.
“We expect that there will be a strong interest by local and foreign companies in these projects, which we will be offering to investors in the next period,” she added.
